Project description
Lecture series “What do we want?”
The aim of ‘What do we want?’ – A lecture series on climate justice, utopias and future prospects is to integrate the broadest possible view of the climate crisis into teaching and to promote discussion of the issue.
The lecture series is a public event at the university. Almost all students can attend it as part of their studies and have it credited to their degree programme. However, it is also open to interested members of the public from the city and the university. In 10 different lectures by external speakers, we try to shed light on different aspects of the climate crisis, familiarise ourselves with different perspectives on the crisis and develop, but also critically question, options for action and perspectives.
The climate crisis is highly complex and no one has a complete answer as to how it can be solved, insofar as this is still possible at all. It is being discussed intensively in politics, the media and social movements, but also within the closest family circle. By inviting academics, journalists and activists from various fields to our lecture series, we are bringing individual aspects of a broad discussion that are sometimes neglected in the usual debate into our lecture theatre in Hildeheim.
In the lecture series, students from a wide range of areas at the University of Hildesheim learn, reflect and discuss points of view and perspectives on the climate crisis, as well as approaches to minimising the damage caused by it.
