Project description
Slow fashion week 2.0
Our “Slow Fashion Week” project is a themed week that deals with the sustainable use of fashion. Due to its great popularity last year, the project took place for the second time and was supported by the StuPa and the Green Pot.
During the week, there was a clothes swap party, a sewing workshop in cooperation with Faserwerk as well as social media posts on the Green Office channels and information posters in Building I on fast fashion, sustainable alternatives and tips on how students can make their clothing consumption more sustainable. During the theme week, students were to learn more about the effects of fast fashion and the topic of sustainable fashion, as well as being shown direct opportunities for action. In the sewing course, for example, the students were to learn how to adapt broken or oversized clothes themselves and thus wear them for longer. The clothes swap party gave students the opportunity to swap clothes they no longer wear with each other in line with the sharing economy principle. This also increases the appreciation and longevity of the garments. By working with local sustainability actors such as the Faserwerk upcycling studio, students learned about ways to stay involved after the theme week or get help with questions about sustainable fashion.
